Hi everyone and welcome to my blog! Today I'm sharing a snippet again from Leading The Way, the fourth in the Corbin's Bend Series. In this section, which follows the one from last week, well a little later. The girls are all watching the strip show, most of them. Carol is enjoying the gift bag that she managed to get from the candy bar. I may have gone over just a little bit, sorry about that.
The dancers kept dancing around each other, around the stage and eventually right into the audience. They bounced and jiggled and shook their bits like their lives depended on it and all to a roaring crowd. Erin screamed, yelled and hooted as loud as the rest of the girls in the room. You would have sworn there were fifty more people there than there actually was. “Ooh their coming for someone,” she said as the men jumped from the small stage and gyrated their way through the audience.
The first one of course made a bee-line for the bride-to-be. He hoisted her over his shoulder and took her to the stage. He smiled leerily at the audience while he humped against her. Erin screamed when one came towards their table. She tried to hide behind Jen but he wasn’t even looking at either of them. He headed straight towards Carol.
BLURB
Zachary Cunningham moved his family to Corbin's Bend when everything in their life seemed out of control. In a DD relationship with his wife Erin, he thought things had leveled out now that they lived in a community where everyone watched out for one another and discipline was the norm. Surely his family life could be more settled now.
Erin had never made friends easily and in Corbin's Bend she found it doubly as hard. A little too hard on herself, she ignored her mentor and any friendliness from neighbors; so afraid of making a mistake that she didn't try. Until her husband insisted. Having convinced herself she was doing what he wanted, she made friends with a few ladies who liked to push the envelope a little. From bowling to a strip club to smoking a little weed, her life was definitely a lot more fun, even if she was hiding her activities from Zach.
When her husband and the board of Corbin's Bend discovered their indiscretions, Erin and her friends found out what public discipline really meant. When the discipline led to a larger sense of security and more friendships than she could have imagined, Erin began to understand that following Zachary's lead truly was the way.

ReplyDeleteA lot more wild than the bowling league that they're supposed to be at lol Thanks Renee :)
DeleteShe's in for it - hee hee hee! Lovely snippet and don't worry about going over the eight sentences. None of us in the Sat Spanks group can count - it's official. Don't tell Headmistress Blake I said that.... I shall deny everything ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Christina and yes, it is hard to stay with the limit, I do try...mostly :)
DeleteAhh! I hate audience participation! I cannot even imagine what it would be like at a strip show!
ReplyDeleteI know, me too! Poor Carol, they always seem to land on the person in the room least likely to want their attention lol. Thanks Casey :)
DeleteThis was a fantastic scene! I love 'girls gone wild' especially when they're not really wild, but just having a ton of fun.

DeleteCasey, OMG you and me both. Nothing makes me want to crawl under my chair quite so badly. But these girls sound fun. I have a feeling they're in for some trouble. :)
ReplyDeleteAdd me to that list...and Carol. They did have fun! Thanks Normandie :)
DeleteI have to say I loved the bowling girls antics, all of them! Too bad they got caught before I move there :) I really enjoyed the book.
